Located in the São Paulo State, the Federal University of São Carlos currently has four campuses:

São Carlos Campus

The city is located 235 km from the capital of São Paulo State and the Campus has 645 hectares of extension, with 196 thousand square meters of built area. The city of São Carlos has about 238,000 inhabitants and has the title of National Capital of Technology. The city stands out for its high concentration of PhD: one for every 180 inhabitants has a PhD degree in the city. In Brazil, the ratio is 1 to 5,423 inhabitants. The city is highlighted by having two renowned public universities in the country: UFSCar and two campuses of the University of São Paulo (USP). It also has the University Center Central Paulista (UNICEP), two units of Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) - Agricultural Southeast and Instrumentation -, two technology parks - São Carlos Science Park (ParqTec) and Technological Eco Park Damha (Ecotec) - and one technology center of TAM Airlines. The city is internationally known as an important forming center of highly qualified professionals, graduates of more than 150 undergraduate and graduate programs offered in the city. In addition, it has more than 200 technology-based companies and four multinationals - Faber-Castell, Tecumseh, Volkswagen and Electrolux.

Araras Campus

Distant 170 km of the capital, Araras Campus has 230 hectares, of which 50 thousand square meters of built areas. The city has about 112,000 inhabitants and its economy is based on agriculture and agribusiness sectors. The city has about 2,600 commercial establishments, 500 industries and 830 rural properties. The city offers good options of cultural, leisure and food, as well as a wide network of hotels, supermarkets, restaurants and nightclubs to assure the convenience of large urban centers concentrated in a typical countryside town. Araras is also considered one of the cities with the highest quality of life in Brazil.

Sorocaba Campus

Located near the 100 km of John Leme dos Santos highway (SP-264), the Campus has 70 hectares of extension and 48,000 square meters of built area. The city has about 550,000 inhabitants and stands as an industrial development pole with a strong tendency to business tourism. The municipality has approximately 1,500 companies, among which are some of the most important ones in the country; 13 thousand stores; and 8,500 service providers in a variety of sectors and businesses. Sorocaba has diversified options of leisure and culture and its integration with the environment happens in places like the zoo, trail footstep and parks with green areas, preserved bordering forests, lakes, streamlets, springs and trails for educational activities.

Lagoa do Sino Campus

This Campus is located in the municipality of Buri (SP), 130 km far from Sorocaba, and has 19 thousand inhabitants. It has 647 hectares of total area, 10 thousand square meters of built area and is situated 40 km away from the center of Buri and just 6 km from the city of Campina do Monte Alegre, with six thousand inhabitants. The campus is located in a productive farm land donated to the University in 2011. It is close to Vale do Ribeira, one of the poorest regions of the State of São Paulo and of the country, located in a zone characterized by the contrast between some very industrialized cities and others with a small-scale family farming-based economy. The region also has unique environmental characteristics, with remnants of Atlantic Forest and Cerrado, being one of the regions of the State with the highest rates of preserved native vegetation. Campus Lagoa do Sino is structured in three axis: Territorial Sustainable Development; Sovereignty and Food Security; and Family Agriculture.
